Logo's - Advertising by Design
I toss my gardening gloves and tools on a little rolling cart just inside the mud room when I come in from outside. I noticed this morning when I came in (morning tea out on the deck) that the logo on the gardening gloves was pretty cool. I had not really paid attention to it before, as these gloves are new this year. It was a reminder that "The 'Better Together' Approach" logo needed an update to remove some old information that is no longer viable for the group(s). The logo that caught my attention:
"WomansWork" - Strong women building a gentle world.
I love the business name and the slogan. Both give a great idea of what products they produce and sell. It's catchy and, to my way of thinking, it's an uplifting way to look at "woman's work."
The biggest reminder, in my mind, is that unless you are Nike, United Airlines or Coke (big international corporations), you need a tag line in your logo or a motto, whenever possible. Small business must TELL people what they do; what they sell; and/or how they roll.
The 'Better Together' Approach groups are applicable business networks run by Lamar Morgan (Synergistic Business Marketing in Florida) and yours truly, Eileen Brown (Buddy Web Services in Kansas). There is one network at Linkedin which Lamar attends to daily and one at Facebook, where Eileen watches and partakes in the action, also daily. Both of these groups try to help small business with advertising advice and in-house work flows, including processes and mind-sets.
The old logo had information about a business conference call: "Feature Friday", which is no longer a viable entity so should be removed from the logo and advertising materials. A job that has been started (and dropped) several times. Today's the day. Am getting this DONE! One thing needed: a new tag line and/or motto. And that one thing has been the hold-up during previous attempts to update said logo/ad materials. Yeesh.
Eureka! I got it! "Advertising By Design" - a double entendre, so to speak. It's what we do in both groups and is descriptive of both businesses represented by the owners/moderators of the groups. As to the double entendre, "by design" means as in a complete campaign, and/or the design of the logo, ads, etc.
All I really needed was a little inspiration and "Woman's Work" gave me that, in spades.
So, that's it - drum roll please:

Thank you Woman's Work! ;)
